Who got who?

Although records indicate that holidays similar to Wumpmas have existed for many thousands of years, only since 2014 have scholars been able to keep accurate records regarding the circle of who was making gifts for whom. The reasons of this are varied but an old set of bylaws from the 1870s indicating that any attempt to state out loud the identity of a gift-giver was to result in a terrible ritual called "getting wumped on", of which no evidence suggests ever actually occurred, seem to point to a particular veil of secrecy that has only recently lifted for reasons unknown.
